In collaboration with Queertreff Ottensen, Queertreff Wilhelmsburg, and B-You, we will screen the program NIÑXS and the short film La Pureza on May 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
Over the course of eight years, director Kani Lapuerta follows the trans teenager Karla in Tepoztlán, Mexico. The film sensitively chronicles her transition, her coming of age, and her life navigating traditional expectations and queer identity. Through trusting conversations, a portrait emerges that offers insights into Karla’s hopes, doubts, and her journey toward self-determination. The film blends documentary observation with poetic, imaginative moments, offering a multifaceted perspective on belonging and coming of age as a trans youth.
In La Pureza, we get to know the daily lives and dreams of five children and gain a deeper, more personal understanding of who they are and what the most significant change in their lives might mean.
We look forward to seeing you at the screening!
