Jackie Shane poses in front of a wall in a dress and wears a large shiny necklace.

Jackie Shane was a trans singer who made a breakthrough in the North American soul and R&B scene in the 1960s, becoming one of the first Black artists to do so. With her extroverted stage presence and charismatic personality, she broke down barriers and became a star in many nightclubs. However, she then disappeared without trace.

This documentary follows Jackie Shane’s family members as they follow in her footsteps. Featuring Shane’s music, unpublished telephone conversations and animated elements, the film pays tribute to her extraordinary life story. It’s a film with catchy tunes.
