The documentary “No Box For Me: An Intersex Story” follows M. (27), who meets Deborah (25) through an online ad. For the first time, M. has the opportunity to connect with another intersex person. As part of her dissertation, Deborah is collecting personal accounts of intersex experiences. M. discovers new voices, new forms of expression, and a language that allows to understand oneself beyond purely medical terminology.

An intense connection develops between the two that profoundly changes her life. The documentary follows them and other courageous young people on their journey to reclaim their bodies and explore their identities on their own terms. In doing so, it highlights the limitations of binary notions of sex and gender and addresses the profound physical and psychological consequences of non-consensual medical interventions on intersex infants and children.
